Robotics programs are a great way to spark curiosity and drive interest in STEM careers for Florida's students. Throughout the FPL service area, we sponsor teams at all levels of the FIRST® (For Inspiration & Recognition of Science & Technology) family of programs. We also sponsor a number of regional competition events in Florida.
For FIRST® robotics teams that have been in existence for over one year submit the following required documents to maureen.wilt@fpl.com:
- FPL request for funding form.
- W-9 with the name, address and federal tax ID number of the entity that will manage your funds
- If you are a not-for-profit organization, the IRS determination letter 501c3
The following timeline will be used to fund mature teams.
FLL Jr. and FLL: July - Sept. 2019
FTC: July - Sept. 2019
FRC: Sept. 2019 - Feb. 2020
Checks are typically issued within six weeks of receiving a request for funding.
Any FIRST® Tech Challenge or FRC team that received a rookie grant from FPL during the 2018-19 season will be eligible to receive funding for the 2019-20 season. FPL will also fund rookie FTC and FRC teams through FIRST. The funds will be credited to your account upon registration with FIRST®.
